“Pool of Melancholy” | PoetiQ Keyz
(From my 2012 debut project, Origami Poetry)
Origami Poetry is a project by Jazz alternative hip hop artist PoetiQ Keyz. This project consists of 19 poems by PoetiQ Keyz on which has been reconstructed into music. The message Keyz is attempting to convey from this album is that all poetry can create imagines on which the mind can interpret. Thus, using the Japanese term “origami” (which is the Japanese art form of folding paper into decorative shapes & figures) as a way of literally understanding the words (of a poem) on which is written on paper in imagine projecting that poem. Did he succeed in that feat? The only way to find out is to close your eyes sit back & listen. From the abstract jazzy sounds to the pessimistic undertones to the conscious subject matter through storytelling. This collection of work has a sound unique on its own & should be heard in fullness to enjoy the experience that is Origami Poetry.

Strengthen your mental
Don’t let your limbs
Be influential..
Of your potential
To achieve the heightened level
That’s fundamental
To live in the obstacles we call a devil..

Breaking the Fourth Wall is a EP by jazz alternative hip-hop artist PoetiQ Keyz. This project is an awareness enhancer upon which Keyz is trying to spark conversation about the existence on which all human beings live in. Throughout the four songs upon which this EP consists of the poet is trying to make everyone question their position in life more. Some of the many controversial topics being lightly discussed include human existence, death, religion, & even the economy. When asked why “Breaking the Fourth Wall” was chosen for the title he stated, “That’s what I’m trying to do, break the fourth wall in life. Show listeners that there’s nothing wrong with questioning life or the part upon which each individual plays in it.” Straying away from his now signature jazzy sound into a more ambient sound, PoetiQ dares his listeners into the mind state on which he debates within himself with.
